Vice President of Development
Steve Hutton spent 19 years as a PGA Professional, 12 years as Head Professional of various country clubs, and 7 years with Mississippi’s PGA TOUR event, the Southern Farm Bureau Classic – ultimately serving as Tournament Director. Under his leadership, the purse for this prestigious event increased from $700,000 to over $3 million.
Steve left the PGA TOUR in 2004 to begin working for Promise Keepers, eventually becoming Vice President of Field Ministries in 2006. In 2007 Steve launched an event ministry called MOMENTUM Events, conducting over 30 events and placing over 35,000 men in small group discipleship. He also serves as the agent to nationally known men’s speaker Steve Farrar, Author of Point Man, and agent to recording artist Charles Billingsley, Worship Pastor at Thomas Road Baptist and Artist in Residence at Liberty University.
Steve’s personal story took a turn in 2009 when his oldest son, Ben, a 4.0 college football player fell victim to a debilitating drug addiction. For 5 years Steve and his wife Joni exhausted every financial and emotional resource available to them to keep their son alive, until learning about Teen Challenge. Ben graduated from Teen Challenge of the Dakotas in 2015 and today is again a 4.0 college student while working full time.
Steve has authored the book Pride Aside that details the journey their family has been on for several years, serving as a teaching tool for students, parents, and grandparents. Pride Aside gives warning signs that many family members overlook, missed teachable moments throughout their journey, and hope for those who have already fallen victim to a similar path.
Steve and Joni have been married 30 years and are parents to Ben (age 26) and Michael (age 22), all of whom reside in Madison, MS.
